Testimonials:

"There is great potential for your work within The Executive Committee organization (TEC). Your application of the Enneagram is unique and you obviously have the skills to deal with TEC Presidents and CEOs."

Chairman, TEC

"The most amazing result of the workshop is that it has actually shifted my way of seeing and evaluating myself and other. I am something of a skeptic when it comes to the claims made by facilitators about the transformational nature of what they had to offer. In the case of your workshop, the raves I heard were from those who had participated and found it beneficial, and it's an understatement to say that I was not disappointed. I will be returning to it, and to your workshops, again and again."

Educational and Editorial Consultant

“I have attended three leadership workshops and found each one impactful, stimulating and thought-provoking. I most appreciated the way the panels brought different points of view to life, and the way Helen drew out each participant’s experience for the benefit of the entire group.”

Effective Communications

Communications is the single skill that every employee in every company must demonstrate continually in his or her work. The success of senior leaders, individual employees, managers, and support staff in every industry and profession can be made or broken on the effectiveness of their communication skills. We communicate in meetings, in presentations, in videoconferences, in one-to-one conversations, and in the halls; we also communicate through email, telephone, letters, and text messaging - and the list of media will likely grow!

The reality is that we do not always communicate as effectively as we could. Almost everyone can benefit from improved communication skills.

Turning Point International offers three programs that can help. The sequence of workshops (usually 1/2 day each) is designed to first assess individual communication strengths, blind spots and growing edges, and to then introduce specific feedback and questioning skills for effective interaction with others. Any of the workshops can also be delivered as stand-alone.

1. Clear Communication
Understand the filters through which you communicate and listen, the specific strengths and weaknesses of your unique communication style, and steps you can take to develop greater awareness and skill. Ideally, participants have already attended the Leadership & Teambuilding foundation workshop.

2. Feedback Skills
Research shows that lack of feedback is one of the three top reasons for less than excellent performance (the other two are unclear expectations and inadequate training). Research also shows that most organizations are actually feedback-adverse! Learn a simple feedback model and how to apply it so that performance will actually improve.

3. Solution Focus
In the past, the best leader was the one who had the best answers. Today, the best leader is the person who knows how to ask the best questions. The quality of your organization is directly related to the quality of questions your managers and employees ask. Learn how to ask questions that open up lines of communication and move your organization forward.

Communication Skills Self-Assessment
Still not sure whether you would benefit from these programs? Take this One Minute Self-Assessment of your communication skills.

On a scale of 1-5, where 1 is very poor and 5 is excellent, how do you rate yourself?
  1 2 3 4 5
I communicate effectively so that others understand what I really mean to say
I objectively hear what others say to me
I give constructive feedback so that others do not feel defensive and are actually helped to improve their performance
I take solution focus (rather than problem/blame focus) when communicating
I ask questions that open up lines of communication and move us forward (rather than shutting communication down and/or analysis/paralysis)
  / 25

Did you score 25/25? If you did, congratulations. You are in a very small minority.

Did you score less than 25? You might want to move up the scale by taking one of the programs described above.
