Testimonials:

“ I went into the workshop expecting that a number of people on my team would not speak up, and that one or two would not engage at all. I left astounded by the level of participation and enthusiasm from everyone. Without question you are one of the best, if not the best, facilitator I have ever met, and the Enneagram is both profound and practical in understanding our different leadership styles and bringing us together as a team.”

Director, Hydro One

“I found the training fun, timely and interesting. I most appreciated the examples and stories about the different types. I will be coming back for the next level and to roll out the introductory session to other teams. ”

Vice President, Motorola Canada

Conflict Resolution

Conflict is one of the most stressful aspects of organizational life. People can clash about anything - resources, strategy, decisions, goals, roles, rewards, culture, power, inclusion, leadership style, personality… The list could go on indefinitely. If unresolved, conflict usually damages both the individuals involved and the organization.

However, conflict is not necessarily negative. Differences of opinion, perspective, values, and ideas about the company's direction can also help organizations find new solutions to old problems, and become more innovative and effective overall.

Suppressed conflict stalls and thwarts individual and organizational development. When conflict is managed constructively, it often becomes the foundation for individual and organizational learning and growth.

Turning Point offers two programs that can help. Usually 1/2 day each, they are designed to first assess individual approaches to conflict, and to then introduce specific listening and response skills for effective conflict resolution. These workshops can be scheduled sequentially, or delivered as stand-alone.

1. Conflict Management

Learn to manage conflict effectively, including taking responsibility for your contribution to a situation, de-escalating conflict when it first appears, and always approaching others in a respectful and productive way.

This training is based on the “Pinch-Crunch Conflict Model” which provides a practical framework for understanding how conflict develops and how to prevent, de-escalate, or resolve it constructively. Ideally, participants have already attended the Leadership & Teambuilding foundation workshop

This model was originally developed by Sherwood and Glidewell in the 1970s, and more recently adapted by Lapid-Bogda.

2. Constructive Conversation
Learn a simple (but not easy) conversational process that helps to resolve one-on-one conflict more peacefully. And learn how to develop your organizational culture so that it truly values mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.
